ATA ADVISE THE FOLLOWING ADMINISTRATIVE REFERRAL PROCEDURES

The following procedures are required before submitting an administrative referral.

Classroom distractions/Inappropriate behaviors:

First Offense                                 Two to three redirections

Second Offense                          Parent contact made regarding behavior (i.e. email, letter via U.S.  mail, telephone contact is preferred)

Third Offense                            1. Parent contact and/or individual conference (when appropriate)  and/or team conference to discuss strategies and interventions.

   2. Referral to grade level counselor.    The counselor is required to:

A. Counsel student about incident

B. Advise parents of current session

C. Issue weekly progress reports

D. Advise teacher of session with student

Fourth Offense                                  Written referral to an administrator

SAMPLE FIVE STEP BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT PLAN:

1. Warning indicated by name on board.

2. Brief after class conference; or contact made during planning period

3. Parent contact made by email, letter or telephone.

4. Parent conference

5. Administrative referral.

You may utilize this behavior management plan or incorporate any of these steps into your own management plan.  However, each teacher should formulate a five step behavior management plan of increasing consequences to deal with classroom disruption and discipline
