COVER LETTER
“ Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself”

I am very excited to apply to this teaching position at……………………..

Parts of a good cover letter

Introduction (or, the carrot): A fresh , relevant, and interesting statement or two that also mentions the job you are applying for.

The body ( or, the corroboration): The one or two paragraphs that summarize your career goals and experience while relaying an understanding of the employers needs and how you can meet those needs

Final Paragraph ( or, the close): This is a call to action. It invites the reader to read the attached resume, arrange for a meeting, or take other further action.

Helpful Tips:

Talk about students in needs that you previously helped in your last assignment or bring parents notes appreciation if you have some on how you impacted their child growth.

Highlight value to the employer-What problem does the employer need to be solved and how can you solve it?What needs does the employer have that you can fulfill?

Talk and sell, don’t tell- make it more of a conversation by painting a picture of appeal instead of just telling facts.

Reveal a secret-Appeal to the human element to the employer. Speak to your ‘soft skills’, the interpersonal skills, work habits, and other skills that will be good to the work culture. Interweave tidbits of your personality, character, and / or philosophy.
